Edwin Frank Pinson

Edwin Frank Pinson, 81, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on August 18, 1944, and lived a life defined by faith, service, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Edwin shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Elizabeth Pinson. They were married in Hawaii in April 1969, and together built a life centered on love, kindness, and family. They built their home in King, North Carolina, where they raised their three sons and created a lifetime of cherished memories together.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Odessa Pinson.

He was a proud father to three sons: Shane Pinson of Scottsdale, Arizona; Chuck Pinson and his wife, Deborah, of Duluth, Georgia, and their daughter, Everlyn Pinson (10); and Eddie Pinson and his wife, Carrie Anne, of Crozet, Virginia, along with their children, Grant (16) and Caroline (14).

Edwin is also survived by his older brother, Larry Pinson and his wife, Barbara, and his younger sister, Sheila Kiger and her husband, Rick, along with nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.

A proud member of one of the final graduating classes of Mineral Springs High School, Edwin treasured the lifelong friendships he formed there. He faithfully attended monthly gatherings with his fellow classmates, affectionately known as the "Bulldogs," until his passing.

Edwin proudly served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War and dedicating nearly a decade to military service. Following his time in the military, he attended East Tennessee State University before beginning a 31-year career as a telephone lineman with BellSouth, where he was known for his hard work, dependability, and dedication as he provided for his family.

Nothing brought Edwin greater joy than his family. He was an exceptional husband, father, and grandfather whose quiet presence provided comfort and strength to everyone around him. He generously gave his time coaching Pop Warner football and youth basketball, helping shape the lives of countless young athletes both on and off the field.

Edwin was a lifelong Wake Forest Demon Deacons football fan and an enthusiastic Carolina Panthers supporter. He loved beach music, shag dancing, attending concerts in Mount Airy, and spending time with family and friends creating memories that will be treasured forever.

A faithful member of South Fork Church of Christ, Edwin lived his faith through his actions. He was a man of few words, yet his kindness, patience, humility, and gentle spirit spoke volumes. He loved deeply and treated everyone he met with respect and compassion. Those who knew him will remember him as one of the kindest and most patient people they had ever met. Ed’s legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the friends whose lives he touched, and the countless acts of quiet love and service that defined his life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 6 p.m. at South Fork Church of Christ, with Matt Huddleston officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A private family committal service will be held prior to the memorial service.
