Edwin Shelton

Mr. Edwin "Don" Donald Shelton, 87, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on March 16, 2019. Don was born in Forsyth County on July 12, 1931 to the late Crawford “C.J.” and Stella Shelton. He was also preceded in death by his older siblings, Paul Shelton, Lola (Ed) Walton, Delorse (Jim) Fagg, and Billy Shelton; and son-in-law, Bill Mason. Don served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged after two years of service. He worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as an operator for almost 35 years. Don was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Men and was active in Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church, and the church chicken pie makers. Don is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Karen Leadingham Shelton; his daughter, Renee Shelton Mason; and three grandchildren, Ethan, Andrew, and Elizabeth Mason. The family will receive friends at Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church, 430 Weisner St, Winston-Salem, NC 27127, from 1:00-1:45 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2019. A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday at the church with Rev. Christopher Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, 3123 Indiana Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. In lieu of flowers, at the family’s requests, donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care or Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church.
