Mrs. Elaine Denny Clarke, 93, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023. She was born in Stokes Co. on March 15, 1930, to the late Paul Gibson Denny and Mable Kiser Denny. Elaine was a longtime faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist church, enjoyed playing the piano at home and at her church. She loved looking at old family photographs and talking about family history. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Melvin Monroe Clarke, and a sister; Peggy Ellis. She is survived by her two daughters, Dianne Breeden, and Amy Dezarn (Jeff), two grandchildren; Travis Dezarn (Amanda), and Taylor Petty (David), and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to LifeBrite Community Nursing Home, her CNA’s, Nurses, Dr. Kirk Sanders, James Waldroup with Trellis Supportive Care and a special friend Dean McKinney for the love and care they have shown Elaine, in her time of need. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Mount Olive Cemetery Trust, c/o Wiley Burcham, 1180 Chestnut Grove Rd., King, NC 27021.
