Elbanks Moorefield

Mr. Elbanks ""Banks"" Moorefield, 89, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016. He was born on January 31, 1927, in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Columbus Melton Moorefield and Rader Arrington Moorefield. He was a veteran of the United States Navy ""Seabees"", serving his country from 1945 to 1947. Mr. Moorefield was on a ship heading for Japan, when the war ended and his ship was diverted to Pearl Harbor. He was a retired building contractor and was the owner of Forsyth Construction Company, Creative Decorators, and Classic Cabinet Company. Banks was an avid fan of NASCAR, loved boating and was a member of Piedmont Boat Club for many years. He loved to travel and loved playing cards. He was an active member of Winston-Salem Moose Lodge No. 466 from 1965 until his death. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster parents, William Claude Arrington and Eunice Collins Arrington; a brother, Cecil Moorefield; and one sister, Peggy Arrington Phillips. Banks is survived by his sons, Terry Banks Moorefield (Belinda) of Winston-Salem, Jimmy Jessup (Sandra) and Ronnie Jessup (Penny), all of Westfield, NC; sisters, Cora Lee of Westfield, NC, Patti Summerlin of Clemmons, NC, Phyllis Dollyhigh of Winston-Salem, and Lana Iftner (Steven) of Winston-Salem; a half-brother, Ron Moorefield (Pat) of Pilot Mountain, NC; one brother-in-law, Roger Phillips of Pilot Mountain, NC; and a very close and loving friend, Coleen Bowles of Lewisville, NC. A celebration of Mr. Moorefield's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
