Eleanor "Ellie" Lucretia Shaw

Eleanor "Ellie" Shaw, 88, went home to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. Ellie was born in Middle Simonds, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Allison Shaw and Erma Shaw, the third of eight children. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Monroe, Alice Long, brother David Shaw, brothers-in-law, James Long, Nicholas Granato and sister-in-law, Ida Shaw.

After graduation, Ellie taught for a year in a New Brunswick school. She graduated with a 4 year Bachelor of Theology degree from New England School of Theology in Boston. After working at Berkshire Christian College in Massachusetts she came to Winston-Salem to work at Piedmont Bible College. Ellie served for 25 years as Administrative Assistant for two Presidents of the Bible College. For 10 years she worked in the Music Department of Calvary Baptist Church. Family and friends will remember Ellie for the love and dedication to her Lord and Savior, her kindness demonstrated by nurturing, helping and encouraging others, a cheerful attitude and her love for children. She was very patriotic, loving the country of her birth, Canada, and also the USA when she became an American Citizen in 1965. She was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. Ellie was loved by all who knew her, the impact she made in the lives of many PBC students, missionaries and co-workers is immeasurable.

Ellie is survived by her sisters, Mary Granato, Annie Mae Tysick (Dennis); brothers, Edward Shaw, John Shaw (Jean); brother-in-law, Bill Monroe and many special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by cherished friends who are family to her, Paul and Penny Hesman (Kathryn, Michael, Joshua); Dan and Phyllis Calhoun (Laura, Luke, Liam, Lucy); her loyal friend, Wilma Sammons and countless friends down through the years.

A special thank you to the Administration and Staff at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living for the love and care given to Ellie during the years she was a resident.
