Eleanor Elizabeth O’Brien Staples, of Germanton, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at her home.

A memorial service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller, Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Lomax Skinner officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Staples was born January 3, 1936, in Baltimore County, Maryland, to George Vernon O’Brien and Caroline McCusker O’Brien. She loved her family dearly; and in her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and fishing. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, George Burton Staples; one brother, James O’Brien; and one sister, Claire Pike.

Left to cherish her memory is one son, Lawrence Plunkett of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Teresa Plunkett Stark of Winston-Salem, and Susan Hunter of Lexington; two grandchildren, Steven Brewer, and Ashley Fulcher; one brother, Dennis O’Brien of Mississippi; and one sister, Carol Studard of Rural Hall. Eleanor is also survived by her partner, Curtis Craddock.
