Elizabeth Allen Steelman Neal

Elizabeth Allen Steelman Neal, 93, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. She was born June 16, 1932, in Davie County to the late Marma Kimball and Etta Riddle Allen. Mrs. Neal worked as a nurse for City Hospital, Dr. W.D. Vreeland, and Forsyth Hospital. She was an active and devoted long-time member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading, and was a talented artisan. She spent many years volunteering for hospice, Sunnyside Ministries, Rescue Mission, and Meals on Wheels, among others. Preceding her in death was the father of her children, Jarvis “Lee” Steelman; husband, G.L. Neal and a sister, Ruth Bishop. Surviving is a son, Bob Steelman; two daughters, Margaret S. Greenwood (Kyle) and Linda S. Tarleton (Bob); six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Julia Howell and Louise Fulk; and a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Open Air Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Mallard Ridge and Davidson County Hospice for all the care and compassion that was given to Mrs. Neal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunnyside Ministries or Davidson County Hospice.
