Elizabeth “Liz” Milton Griffin, of Kernersville, NC went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, after a lengthy but courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on November 15, 1939, in Horsepasture, VA.
Liz is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 67 years, George Griffin; son, Keith Griffin (Rebecca); daughter, Linda Murphy (Jim); granddaughter, Lindsey Klee; sisters, Shirley Barber, Becky Burton (Bob), and Joy Rhodes (Kenneth); brothers-in-law, John Griffin (Betty), and Harry Griffin (Mary); and sister-in-law, Marjorie Griffin.
Liz was a graduate of Cobb Memorial High School in Caswell County. She spent 26 years working for the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System at Cash Elementary School. Liz was also a life-time faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church.
Even though she worked outside of the home, she was truly a loving homemaker who took pride in caring for her husband, their children, and their home. Liz enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, having fun with everything she did, and filling every room with plenty of laughter. After her retirement, she and George volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels.
Liz continued to learn by taking pottery classes. She was so creative and made many beautiful and useful items.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Gracie Milton; brothers, Giles Milton, and Herman Milton; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Ersley Griffin.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Gospel Light Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm before the service. Officiating the service is Rev. Frank Shumate. The burial will follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
The family expresses great gratitude to her caregiver, Mrs. Jan Green.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Parkinson Foundation or Gospel Light Baptist Church.
