Mrs. Bessie Elizabeth “Beth” Lambert Haire, 94, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Trinity Elms in Clemmons. Beth was born in Alexander County on January 7, 1931, to the late Bill and Mary Lambert and spent her childhood years in Troutman, NC.
Beth spent her career in education as a preschool teacher at Ardmore Baptist Church for 20 years and a school crossing guard for the city of Winston-Salem for 25 years. She was a longtime faithful member of Ardmore Baptist Church, teaching second grade Sunday School for 42 years. Beth cherished the opportunity to teach children about Jesus. Beth loved to read, trips to the beach with family, and spending time at the family mountain house in Ashe County, NC. Most importantly, Beth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her favorite thing to do. Beth loved everyone, had a caring and generous soul, and most importantly loved her Lord. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nellie Lambert and daughter-in-law, Amy Haire. Beth is survived by her husband of 70 years, Carroll Haire; son, Eddie Haire; grandchildren, Rebecca Pruitt (Josh) and James Haire (Hannah); great-grandchildren, Emery and Eden Pruitt and Noah Haire; sister, Betty Davidson; niece, Sonja Shannon (Pat); and great-niece, Ashley Plyler.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Ardmore Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Mullen, Rev. Tyler Tankersley, and Rev. Christa Warise officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Trinity Elms and Trellis Supportive Care for the exceptional care they provided to Beth over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
