Elizabeth "Betty" Kohnen

Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Baureis Kohnen, 70, of Mocksville, NC passed away while traveling in Alaska. She was born December 14, 1954 to Walter John Baureis and Agnus Collette Chernow Baureis. Betty was a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church and taught Special Education at Davie High School. She coached O.M. Teams and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband, Marshall Kohnen; two children; two stepchildren; five grandchildren; one sister and one brother. 

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Lee Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 56326.
