Elizabeth Holder

Mrs. Rosa "Elizabeth" Tucker Holder, 98, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

Elizabeth was born August 24, 1919 in Rockingham County to James and Rosa Tucker. She was a devout member of the Church of Christ and retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco. In her free time, Elizabeth loved to visit the beach with family and camping at Lake Myers. A fan of the Atlanta Braves, she also enjoyed playing Rook and Scrabble with friends. For many years she would eat breakfast at K&W Cafeteria every morning of the week except for Sunday. Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Darcy Holder; sisters, Dorothy Ketner and husband Bill and Bernell Mendenhall and husband Brooklyn; brothers, Clarence Tucker and wife Mary, Norman Tucker, and J.C. Tucker, Jr. and wife Doris; and son-in-law, Jimmy Spease.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Shelby Holder Spease; grandchildren, Lori Pendry and Darin Spease and wife Kathy; great-grandchildren, Nathan Martin and girlfriend Casandra Gonzalez, Nicole Starling and husband Steven, Mason Spease, Morgan Spease, and Kasey Spease; step-great-grandchildren, Amber Schosser and Rick Pendry, Jr.; great-great grandchildren, Isabela Hoihjelle, Jocelyn Martin, Amelia Martin, and Mackenzie Starling; step-great-great grandchild, Oceana Eldridge; and sister-in-law, Doris Tucker.

A celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Dr. Bill Campbell, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
