Ellen Poindexter Shelton

Mrs. Ellen Poindexter Shelton, 74, of Clemmons, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014.
Ellen was born February 12, 1940 in Forsyth County to the late George Poindexter and Josephine Bailey Poindexter. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, and also worked for R.J. Reynolds and The Enchanted Cottage. A very creative person, Ellen enjoyed making beautiful greeting cards for her friends and family and loved to watch the birds outside her window. She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Paul Shelton, of the home; son, Paul ""Tommy"" Shelton, Jr. and wife, Renee of Clemmons; daughter, Amy Shelton Styers and husband Jeffrey, of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hawkins and husband, Jason, Jennifer Styers, Tripp Shelton, and Hallie Jo Shelton; great-grandchild, Greyson Hawkins; sisters, Judy Shutt and Sarah Jetton; niece, Lisa Nitz; and nephew, Rick Jetton. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 19, 2014 at 3 pm at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Matthew W. Allen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B.
