WINSTON SALEM-Elva Macie Mae Williard 94 years old, of the Union Cross Community, is in the arms of her Lord and Savior , reuniting with her family in heaven on Sunday, December 1st while in the care of the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston Salem. She was born in the old home place her father built in Forsyth County on March 12, 1919. She was a daughter of the late Isaac Cornelius Williard and Lonida Maybelle Weavil Williard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ovella Williard, Lizzie Comer, Mary Smith, Sally Sisk; one brother, David (Neal) Williard; and two nephews, Dale Comer and Roy Smith. She is survived by nephews, James Comer and his wife, Imogene, Bobby Smith and his wife, Betty, Ronnie Sisk and his wife, Linda and Gary Smith; nieces, Linda Brater and her husband, Bill , Diane Gerrey and her husband, Ted , Pamela Delgado and her husband, Frank and Martha Lawson. Also surviving are many great and great- great nieces and nephews. Aunt Elva lived in the Union Cross community her entire life and as a child helped her parents and other family members on the family farm. She retired from AT&T after having retired from Hanes Hosiery. She and her sister, Ovella, were custodians at Union Cross Moravian Church for approximately 34 years, where she was a member for over 80 years. Very active in her church, she was a Diener, sang in the choir and kept the church nursery for many, many years. She became well known for her many talents of intricate work. The most beloved was her ability take a cotton string, many beads with a crochet needle and create many prize winning dresses for dolls. With her sweet gentle spirit, she spent many of her years caring for her mother and sister, while helping any way she could with her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as her great-great nephews. She will certainly be missed till we see her again. Services celebrating Elva's life will be conducted at 3:00p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Union Cross Moravian Church with Rev. Donald W. Griffin officiating. She will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be given to the Union Cross Moravian Church 4295 High Point Rd.
