Mrs. Emily S. Ballard, 99, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Trinity Elms in Clemmons. She was born June 4, 1914 in Davie County to George Murray and Mary Parnell Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, H. Reginald Ballard, a son-in-law, Gene Johnson and a brother, Charles Murray Smith.. She was a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church. In her youth, Emily was an avid tennis player, where she was the singles and doubles champion in Salisbury. She was also an avid duplicate bridge player with Masters Points. Most of all, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed. Surviving are two daughters, Lynne Fleischman (Bob) of Winston-Salem, Barbara Johnson, of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Whitney, Emily Katie, Will ; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Augsburg Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Rinn officiating. A private family entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.
