Emmitt Adams

Mr. Emmitt Avon Adams passed away early Friday morning, July 22, 2022, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. He was born in Low Gap, NC on April 13, 1938, to Emmett James Adams and Grace Mae Murphy Adams. He proudly served in the US Army. Emmitt was a man ahead of his time who possessed a broad knowledge of the Bible. He was a gifted musician who learned to play the piano and guitar by ear. He will be remembered as a selfless and Godly man with a compassionate heart for others. Emmitt never took his blessings for granted. He took good care of all he had and treasured his family above all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Ethel King. Emmitt is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margie Sloan Adams; daughter, Angie Adams Swaim and husband Mark; grandchildren, Abbey Grace Swaim and Nicholas Ryan Swaim; sister, Catherine Morton; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend very special thanks to his sister in law Sandy Peeks and family friend Susan Cain for their devotion and support during this time. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Andrea Simmonds officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 2:30-4:00 PM, Saturday, July 30, at the funeral home.
