Mr. Enos Adolphus “E.A.” Jumper, Jr., 95 passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at his home in Winston-Salem. He was born in Kershaw County, SC on March 13, 1929, the son of the late Enos Adolphus Jumper, Sr., and Helen Emma Crosby Jumper. Mr. Jumper loved the Lord and was an avid student of the Bible. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and a former member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, along with being instrumental in CWT (Christian Workers and Transportation). He married the love of his life, Peggie Dezern, on January 17, 1948. Mr. Jumper proudly served our country in the United States Marines Corps during WWII era. He was a truck driver for McLean Trucking and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Mr. Jumper was also a former Mayor of Walkertown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Earl Jumper; a granddaughter, Inge Marie Parker; a son-in-law, Harvey Bowman; a sister, Elizabeth “Lib” Livingston; and a brother, Bobby Jumper. He is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Peggie Dezern Jumper; three daughters, Kathryn Bowman (Harvey), Dianne Everhart (Gary) and Cynthia Donley (Doug); eight grandchildren, Greta, Jonathan, Gary, Jr., Lori, Jason, Angel, Joshua, and Krystal; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Jumper “Peepsie” Ford. Funeral services for Mr. Jumper will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at Woodland Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gammons, Pastor Jon Bowman, and Pastor Jason Shuler officiating. Private Burial with Military Rites will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. There will be no formal visitation, but he will lie-in-state at Woodland Baptist Church from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service for those who would like to view and pay their respects. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Arbor Ridge Independent Living of Stanleyville and Trellis Supportive Care for all of the care shown in Mr. Jumper’s time of need. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to: Gideons International or CMTA (Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association) at CMTAUSA.org.
