Ernest Junior Mahaffey

Mr. Ernest Junior Mahaffey, 92, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016. He was born in Wilkes County to Ernest Eugene and Effie Parks Mahaffey. Mr. Mahaffey enjoyed gardening and cooking. He enjoyed watching the Nascar races and in attending his reunions with his US Navy friends. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was baptized at Konnoak Baptist Church where he was a member. Mr. Mahaffey was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Calhoun Mahaffey, his parents, a brother, Ralph R. Mahaffey, and a daughter-in-law, Martha S. Mahaffey. Surviving are a daughter Kelly M. Ellis and husband Mark, of Clemmons, a son, Steven G. Mahaffey of Winston-Salem, his grandchildren, Sarah Ellis, John Ellis, and Meredith Ann Harper. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Konnoak Baptist Church with Rev. John Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with military honors conducted by the V.F.W. Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 12:30 until 1:45pm at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Konnoak Baptist Church, 400 McLean Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
