Ernest "Marvin" Styers

Ernest “Marvin” Styers was born on November 15, 1943. He was born again in Christ on March 10, 1973. And he entered his eternal home with Jesus on the evening of March 21, 2026. Marvin was an active member of Woodland Baptist Church for 53 years. He faithfully served in numerous roles including Head Usher for 25 years, Sunday school teacher for 10 year old boys for numerous years and he had a bus route for over 10 years. During his children’s attendance at Woodland Christian School, Marvin was also the driver for the ensemble choir. He was a Gideon for many years, and he served in the prison ministry. Marvin loved attending the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Dario on Wednesday mornings.

He loved giving out tracks and telling others about Jesus. He had a passion for vintage cars, and he cherished the time that he spent with his close-knit group of friends affectionately known as “The 66 Gang.” Marvin retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after serving for over 35 years. He went on to enjoy a successful career in commercial and residential real estate for many years afterwards. Anyone that knew Marvin knew that he had a true servants heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and he touched the lives of many through his kindness, generosity, and quiet acts of care. He will be terribly missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents Percy and Daisy Styers and his youngest daughter Tabitha Ann Styers. He leaves behind his loving family. His wife of over 52 years, Ella Styers, his daughters, Lisa Canter of Sevierville, TN and Sabrina Terrell of King, NC and his brothers, Leon Styers (Margaret) and Ken Styers (Glenda).

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Woodland Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gammons officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Forsyth Memorial Park.
