Ernestine McGee Smith

Mrs. Ernestine McGee Smith, 83, went home to Jesus peacefully at her residence on Saturday, June 20, 2026. “Teeny” was born on January 4, 1943, in Forsyth County, the daughter of Horace and Edith Glidewell McGee, and was married to her high school sweetheart, Keith, from 1963 until he passed away in 2020. Ernestine was a dedicated member of Lawndale Baptist Church for over 50 years where she sang in the Choir and served as Sunday School Director with Keith for many years.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Kernersville High School, then attended East Carolina University for her undergraduate studies and subsequently earned a master’s degree in business from UNCG. Ernestine taught business, personal finance, typing, and computer literacy at Page High School for 17 years, before co-founding One Source Document Solutions with her husband in 1987.

Ernestine enjoyed church, gardening, and traveling. She was devoted to her family and friends and especially loved spending time with her grandkids. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edwin Keith Smith and a son, Alan Korey Smith. Survivors include her son, Kevin Smith and his wife Elizabeth of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Elijah Smith of Charlotte and Josie Smith of Greensboro and two sisters, Rebecca Hedgecock of Kernersville and Joan Willard of Clemmons, along with nieces, nephews and other family members she adored.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Curt Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at 1:00 PM in the Arbor at the church.
