Essie Faye Grubb Thomas

Mrs. Essie Faye Grubb Thomas, 92, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Friday June 30, 2023. Essie was born on August 5, 1930, to Reece Grubb and Annie Stevens Grubb in Ashe County, North Carolina. She was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church and loved to walk at the Marketplace Mall. She also loved to spend time sitting on the front porch with her neighbor Gary. Essie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Percy Thomas; son James Thomas; daughter Lisa Thomas; sister Jeanette Walker; and six brothers. She is survived by her son Kevin (Karynn) Thomas; granddaughter Courtnie Thomas; great grandchildren Jadon, Abree, Peighton, and Brielle; sister Sandra Miller; and sister-in-law Magalene Grubb. A funeral service will be held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Friday July 7, 2023, at 10am with Rev. John Bishop officiating. The burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
