Ethel Nail

Mrs. Ethel Winfield Spainhour Nail died on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at her home.  She was 106 years old.  She was born on June 29, 1913, the daughter of the late, Charlie W. and Lula Ellen Bodsford Spainhour.  Mrs. Nail retired from Hanes Knitting Company with over 35 years of service.  She was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Glenn Nail, two sisters, Flossie Spainhour and Frankie Caudle and two brothers, Curtis Spainhour and Clifton Spainhour.  Mrs. Nail is survived by her two sons, Gene Nail and wife, Norma and Ken Nail and wife, Donna; five grandchildren, Steve (Cathy), Donnie (Diana), Rusty and Jay (Katie) Nail and Kristen Nail Prevette (Aaron); ten great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.  Her funeral will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM at New Philadelphia Moravian Church.  Burial will follow in the church graveyard.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church banquet room.  The family would like to thank her caregivers, (Nanny’s Girls), Cindi Barber, Susan VanDeventer, Gail Harrold, Billie Davis and Allison Staples and Trellis Supportive Care for the excellent care they provided.  They would also like to thank Dr. Temple Day.  Memorials may be made to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 or Trellis and Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
