Mrs. Ethel Allen Huffman Spaugh, 97, passed away November 3, 2013 at her residence. She was born April 9, 1916 in Davie County to the late William Watson Allen and Mary Melissa Smith Allen. Mrs. Spaugh was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Ray Huffman, her second husband, George H. Spaugh, her son, Bobby Ray Huffman and two grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Buchanan, Shirley Wilson, Faye Beeson (Larry), Mary Staples (Harvey), and Linda Vest; a son, Clyde Huffman (Kathleen); a daughter-in-law, Alyce Huffman; three step-children, Jimmy Spaugh, Wayne Spaugh, and Sue Witt; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Halipilias officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 4265 Ebert Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
