Mrs. Ethel Virginia Anderson Ranlett, 86, of Winston-Salem, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Brookdale Winston-Salem on Peace Haven Road. Virginia was born in Winston-Salem on May 17, 1933 to the late Owen Clifton Anderson and Lucy Ella Rogers. After graduating from Mineral Springs High School, she was employed by Western Electric, now Nokia, and retired from the company after thirty-three years of service. Following retirement, Virginia continued her education at UNC Greensboro and Salem College, earning a BA degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Salem College. She enjoyed reading and traveling. Virginia traveled widely with her husband throughout this country and Europe. Surviving are her husband, Jay D. Ranlett; a sister, Helen A. Minor of Winston-Salem; three nieces, Sandra Matthews of Greensboro, Donna Minor of Winston-Salem and Susan Saunders of Durham, Maine; and three nephews, Clyde Stephen Minor of Wilmington, David D. Sutton of Biddeford, Maine and Timothy J. Noyes of Los Angeles, California. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Winston-Salem on Peace Haven Road, for the attentive and compassionate care that Virginia received during her stay at that facility.
