Eugene Husel

Mr. Eugene Etho Husel, 73, passed away Wed., Aug., 30, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Gene was born July 20, 1944 to Raymond Husel and Marlyn Houghton Husel in Ramsey County, MN. Gene proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College and Winston-Salem State University Summa Cum Laude. Gene owned Husel's Bookkeeping Service for 40+ years. An avid sports fan, he followed the Falcons and Panthers and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He loved playing golf with his golfing buddies and coaching his grandson's soccer team. Gene will be remembered as a caring and compassionate man who gave back generously to the community. More than anything, he loved his family. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Ann Husel; and a brother, Richard Raymond Husel. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Shirley Soper Husel; children, Jeffery Allen Husel (Brenna), and Jodi Lynn Husel; grandchildren, Daniel and Makenzie; brother, Dave Husel (Sue); sister, Betty Johnson (Karl), and numerous extended family and friends. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Sat., Sept. 2, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with remarks by Pastor Rev. Jesus Perez at 11:00 AM.
