Evalene Blackburn Baugus

Mrs. Evalene Blackburn Baugus, 92, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. 

She was born March 4, 1932, in Ashe County to the late Wiley Webb Blackburn and Ina Lee Oliver Blackburn. Evalene graduated from Healing Springs High School in Crumpler, NC. She loved spending time with her family, especially children. In addition, she enjoyed bird watching, flowers, plants, quilting, loved TV, and listening to country music. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Earlie Baugus; daughter, Sandra Thomas; three brothers, Elmer Blackburn, Earl Blackburn, and Bradley Blackburn; and three sisters, Iva Pusser, Thelma Burris, and Jessie Hackbarth. 

She is survived by her son, Gregory Baugus (Tammy); two grandchildren, Brad Cave and Travis Baugus; twin sister, Imogene Saunders; and a brother, Richard (Mary) Blackburn. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30pm Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Pastor Greg Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the graveside service on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.
