When Evelyn J. Conrad entered her Savior's more immediate presence on June 19, 2017, she was met by the love of her life, Ezra Conrad, who preceded her in death by eight days. Evelyn was born in Forsyth County to the late J. Paul Jones and Willie White Jones. She and Ezra were married in 1949 and spent the next 68 years taking care of each other and their family. After her daughters entered school, Evelyn went on to obtain her Cosmetology degree and opened Evelyn's Beauty Shop in their home. She worked hard enhancing the beauty of numerous women over the years. She retired with Ezra in 1989 and they enjoyed traveling the world, spoiling their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and remodeling their home. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Ray Jones and Wanda Haas. She is survived by her loving family: daughters and their husbands, Marsha and Tommy Cochran and Joyce and William Gibson; the joys of her life, grandchildren, April Shelton (Ronnie), Michael Gibson (Shannon), and Becky Cochran; and her beloved great-granddaughters, Sydney and Sadie Shelton. A private graveside service will be conducted at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor Aaron Linville officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King Outreach Ministry, PO Box 1450, King, NC 27021-1450. The family would like to especially thank Brenda for her loving kindness toward both Ezra and Evelyn. We also want to express our appreciation to Hospice and Palliative Care and ComForCare caregivers for their loving attention to Mom.
