Mrs. Evelyn Carlon Manring Hicks, 84, would like you to know that her work here on earth is done. She received a call. The sort of offer that cannot be refused. Upon arrival to this appointment, all of her pain disappeared, her sorrow turned to unspeakable joy, and she was reunited with loved ones gone before. On March 14, 2019 she got to see her savior. She was born March 21, 1934 to the late Ozie More Manring and Virginia Lankford Manring. She was known as a person that full of laughter, loved her family and to simply love life. In 1952 she was married to Robert William Hicks. Their four children included Sondra (Michael), a beautiful little girl, two years later her little sister Robyn Lynn was born, four years after that Robert Randall “Randy”, who was eventually called to preach, was born, and eighteen years later her youngest son Joshua Matthew (Brandy) was born. In 2006 she married Benny Church and was blessed to be together for three and a half years. In heaven she is visiting her Aunt Eva and Uncle Canie Sands; uncles Walter, Jesse, and Elmer, who she grew up with; her mother, that died when she was only 3 and her father, Grandpa Powell, and Grandma Hattie Manring, who raised her. In addition to her children she is survived by nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Kathryn Holland of Elon, who brought her much joy and loved very much. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, March 18 at Crestview Memorial Park with Rev. Oakley Manring officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
