Evelyn Nuckles Mickey

COLFAX - Evelyn Nuckles Mickey, 86, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at her home. Evelyn was born on September 1, 1937, in Guilford County to Richard and Ruby Smith Nuckles. Evelyn worked at Sears, until her retirement. She loved to sing with the Nuckles Trio. Evelyn will be remembered as a sweet and loving woman. She was a devoted lifelong member of Smith Grove Baptist Church and had an immense love for her church family. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Grayson Mickey; two brothers, James Drew Nuckles and Charles Raymond Nuckles; and four sisters, Helen Blake Nuckles, Erma Lee Nuckles, Grace Underhill and Maudean Nuckles.

Surviving is her step-daughter, Sharon Hunt of High Point; step-granddaughter Danielle Hunt; two sisters-in-law, Doris Westmoreland Nuckles and Mattie Mae Westmoreland Nuckles of Colfax; as well as nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Peters and Rev. Bruce Freeman officiating. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smith Grove Baptist Church at 2707 Sandy Ridge Rd, Colfax, NC 27235 or to The Kernersville Gideons International at 931 S Main St #217, Kernersville, NC 27284.
