Fayrene Goforth Chrysson Logan (Faye), 76, passed away at Trinity Elms in Clemmons, NC on January 16, concluding more than twelve years of declining health.
She was born on January 10, 1941 in Winston-Salem NC to Claude Otis and Mae Ozell Goforth, for whom she lovingly cared until their deaths. She was the only daughter and beloved baby sister in a blended family of six children. Her five older brothers, Ted, Curtis, Tommy, Ray Von, and Bobby were her lifelong protectors. She became a linchpin for her immediate and extended families, keeping them connected across generations.
After graduating from Gray High School in 1959, she was employed at Reynolds Tobacco Company and Chrysson Brothers Realty. Following marriage and motherhood, she eventually owned and operated a successful daycare facility in the Ardmore community, where she enriched the lives of scores of children for twenty-seven years, before retiring in 2000.
Faye was a wonderful cook, who loved to host holiday parties and open her lavishly decorated home to friends and family. She was a compassionate and caring daughter and sister, a wise and empathetic friend. Her most cherished roles in life were ""Mother"" and ""Grandmother.""
A member of New Eden (Immanuel/New Eden) Moravian Church for most of her life, Faye became affiliated in her latter years with the New Philadelphia Moravian Church of Winston-Salem, where two of her sons are members. She was able to attend her final Love Feast on Christmas Eve of 2016 at New Philadelphia.
Faye is survived by three sons: Dr. Nick G. Chrysson, Jr. (wife, Kim); Jeffrey G. Chrysson (wife, Paula), both of Winston-Salem; Scott A. Logan of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren: Sydney, Amaya, Chase, Olivia, and ""Tripp."" Of her five brothers, two remain: Tommy Goforth (wife, Kay) and Bobby Goforth, both of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and a special cousin, Sandy Perkins (husband, Steve), of Clemmons, with whom she shared a deeply close, lifelong relationship. Friends were precious to Faye, and she leaves behind many, including Judy Williams, her friend of fifty-four years, as well as many parents and children (now adults) from her years as a daycare provider.
The family wishes to thank the pastoral care afforded through the years by the staffs of Immanuel/New Eden and New Philadelphia Moravian Churches. Faye especially enjoyed the encouraging visits from pastoral assistant Claudia Manning. The family also thanks the staff at both the Crest and Trinity Elms in Clemmons for their care and support.
A service to commemorate Faye's life and Christian faith will be conducted at New Philadelphia Moravian Church on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a private graveside service. The Rev. Dr. Worth Green will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Hayworth Miller (Silas Creek Parkway). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem.
