Dr. Felipe M. Tejano, 75, of Kinston, NC, died July 20, 2014 with his wife at his side at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, NC. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends afterwards at the church. Dr. Tejano was born in Bauang, La Union, in the Philippines to Nicolas T. Tejano and Maria P. Tejano. He was a graduate of La Union High School.He received his medical school education from the University of the Philippines in Manila. He completed his residency in urology at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. There he began his married life with Adelinda F. Tejano, MD. He became a US citizen and served in the US Navy as a Commander during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC as a urologist. Fond of eastern NC, he lived in Kinston since 1972, where he was a well respected urologist until 2005. Felipe was always known for his kind, patient, and generous spirit. He was an active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and NC Medical Society. In his post retirement years, he continued to garden, cook, travel, and spend time with family, especially grandchildren. Dr. Tejano was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother.In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Jenny Morgan and husband Mike of Cincinnati, OH, and Joey Stone and husband Mark of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Kate, Michael, Kit, and Emmy Morgan and Nicholas, Sydney, and Lexi Stone; sister, Illuminada Orpilla; brother, Florencio Tejano; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, NC Chapter, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd. Cary, NC 27513.
