Fern Jenkins Swaim Daniel

Winston Salem - Mrs. Fern Jenkins Swaim Daniel, 104, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Brookridge Retirement Community. She was born on July 19, 1912 in Forsyth County to Benjamin and Bertha Kimel Swaim.

Fern will be remembered by all for her passion for life. She was a loving mother, and gave to her children unselfishly. She loved cooking for family and friends, reading Bible stories, and tending to her flowers. Her heart and her generosity knew no bounds.

She was a devoted Christian woman. Her love of God brought her to Oaklawn Baptist Church, where she served the majority of her life.

In the early 80's, she met the love of her life, Winston Daniel. Fern and Winston traveled extensively, enjoyed family and friends, and brought much joy to everyone's path they crossed.

She will be remembered by all for her kind heart, loving care, and passion for Christ. She will be truly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Bauguss, second husband, Rufus Wood and third husband, Winston Daniel; one son, Roger Bauguss; one daughter, Phyllis Angell; three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Pappas (Jimmy) of Nashville, NC; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Hicks and Nancy Branch, both of Winston-Salem; one son-in-law, Nelson Angell; one daughter-in-law, Ginger Bauguss both of Kernersville; one step daughter-in-law, Sally Courtney (Jim) of Summerfield; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
