Mrs. Fern McConnell Wilson, 88, died on Friday, February 22, 2019, at her residence. Fern was born in Cherokee County, NC, on October 3, 1930, to Lawrence and Norma Bradley McConnell. She was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church and a loving wife and homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ted Wilson; one brother, Ralph “Chuck” McConnell; and two sisters, Faye Story and Elda McConnell. Surviving are one sister, Charlene Davis; one brother, Dane McConnell (Kay); four nieces, Tanya Sherrill, Linda Starr (Larry), Barbara Wilson, and Suzanne Brown (Michael); two nephews, Christopher McConnell (Kim) and Matthew Davis (Cindy); and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Francis Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Waughtown Baptist Church, 1538 Waughtown St, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
