Mr. Flay Edward Williard, Jr., 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 23, 1933 in Forsyth County to Flay Edward Williard, Sr. and Carrie Estelle Lindsay Williard. Mr. Williard was a member of Salem Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was first employed with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, then at Flay Williard Neon Signs, Inc., and retired from B.E. Aerospace. He was an avid sports fan and had a passion for NASCAR as well as Bowman Gray Racing. He loved gardening and loved his roses. Mr. Williard loved talking to people. He never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his wife of 59 ½ years, Clotile Warren Williard; five children, Melissa M. Williard of Kissimmee, FL, Teresa W. Jarvis (Scotty) of Clemmons, Edera S. Williard of Lewisville, Flay Edward Williard III (Cindy) of Kernersville, and James W. Williard of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two sisters, Delores Brendle ""Tootsie"" and Jean Hubbard (Bobby). Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Howard Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
