Mrs. Floy Louise Tutterow Gobble, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her home with her caregivers by her side. She was born in Forsyth County on April 22, 1929, to Dewey Sampson and Ina Belle Boyd Tutterow. As a child, Floy lived in many places. Her father worked in road construction, and her parents returned to Mocksville where she graduated from Mocksville High School. There she met Clarence Gobble after he came home from serving in WWII. They married and lived in Winston-Salem. Floy was a member of Fraternity Church of the Brethren. She was beautiful, talented, artistic, and creative. She loved to write poetry, paint, and play the piano by ear.
In her later years, she and Clarence traveled with their daughter, Becky and her husband, Bob to many places including Bermuda, Hawaii, California, New York, Phoenix, Washington D.C., and all over Florida. Floy’s favorite place was the beach, and she had a real passion for collecting seashells.
In addition to her parents, Floy was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Clarence Lanier Gobble; four brothers, Ted Tutterow (Connie), Williard Tutterow (Joanna), Lawrence Tutterow (Jo Ann), Milton Tutterow (Jane); and one sister, Etta Mae Norman (James).
She is survived by two children, Rebecca “Becky” G. Dunn (Robert C. Dunn) and C.L. Gobble, Jr. (Kathy B. Gobble); and one grandchild, C.L. “Tripp” Gobble, III (Tina Hardison).
The Gobble Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Floy’s caregiver, Sonya Youse and her team. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Floy’s honor to a charity of your choosing.
We will so miss our “Floy Joy”.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel is assisting the family.
