Mrs. Frances Chaney Nelson, 84, of Pinnacle, passed away peacefully at home March 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 10, 1941, in Stokes County, as the eldest of three daughters to Lester Matthew and Mildred Frye Chaney.

Mrs. Nelson was a dedicated animal lover and actively involved in numerous support organizations. She provided a nurturing environment for every animal that crossed her path, ensuring they found a caring home for life.

Known for her strong sense of loyalty and commitment, Frances maintained a close-knit circle of friends who appreciated her quiet demeanor and dry sense of humor. She had a discerning gaze which could convey her thoughts without the need for words. She always presented herself with poise and elegance, remaining impeccably groomed for any occasion. She was an extremely dependable person that could always be relied upon.

Frances devoted her professional life to her career, retiring after 34 years from RJ Reynolds in the Research and Development department. She continued to contribute to the community with part-time roles before dedicating herself full-time to the family farm alongside her cherished husband Smith. As a master gardener, she enjoyed planting, growing, and caring for her many beautiful flowers.

Frances memory will be cherished by her devoted son, Gregory Fulk, wife(Pat); grandson Joshua Deathrage, wife(Amber); granddaughter Brittany Fulk, Fiancé(Bradley Bledsoe); step grandson Zackery Clark; step great-grandchildren, Matty and Brayden Bledsoe; sister Elsie King, husband (Charles), one stepdaughter, 2 nephews, a great niece and nephew. Additionally, she leaves behind her loyal rescue companion “Bo.”

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Smith B. Nelson; daughter, Dawn Fulk; stepdaughter, Ashley N. Clark; her parents Lester and Mildred Chaney. Her legacy of kindness and dedication serves as an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of knowing her.
