Frances Jeanette Vandiford Pridgen, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on August 25, 1934, in Nash County, NC to the late Luther Franklin and Bertha Almarine Bone Vandiford. Frances had a kind heart and was a woman of elegance and grace. She was an avid reader and loved poetry. Frances had an admiration for art and loved to paint. She had a heart of gold and would do anything to help others; whether it was being a caregiver for her husband, family and many others. Frances was a God-fearing woman, a member of Main Street Baptist Church, and belonged to her Sunday School Class’s Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene “Pete” Pridgen; and brother, Richard Wayne Vandiford.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Suzanne Vanhoy (Michael), and Cindy Edwards (Robert); one son, Scott Pridgen; seven grandchildren, Sarah Edwards Bolton (Brandon), Robbie Poole (Brittney), Josh Poole (Athena), Mandy Edwards Young (Brandon), Nathan Edwards (Sarah), Nathan Vanhoy, and Claire Vanhoy Myers (Joe); eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Stofel, Lynn Jones, Kay Horne, and Judy Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Main Street Baptist Church with Pastor Gene Lancour officiating. Interment to follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is proudly serving the Pridgen family.
