Frances "Sharon" Hurley McGrath

Mrs. Frances “Sharon” Hurley McGrath, 77, of Clemmons, NC, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at her home. 

Sharon was born on June 8, 1949, to the late Robert Elmer Hurley and Ertie Howell Hurley in Ashe County, NC. 

She was a long-time member of Landmark Baptist Church in Ashe County. After graduation from Winston-Salem Business School, she worked at Integon Insurance, and later Salemtowne Retirement Community. Sharon Lived her life by faith, kindness, and love for others. Her love of the outdoors, gardening, volunteer work, traveling with her grandchildren, and photography kept her busy, happy, and fulfilled. Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose caring spirit and unwavering kindness touched all who knew her. 

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Sheldon “Bud” Hurley. 

Those left to cherish Sharon’s memory include her loving husband, Harry McGrath; daughter, Jenn; son, Alex; grandchildren, Zoe, Allison, Richard, Mya, and Lily, all of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Valerie Hurley of Jefferson, NC, Jean (Richard) Howington of Winston-Salem, NC, and Audrey (Jeff) Dancy of Glendale Springs, NC; sister-in-law, Elesa Hurley of Lexington, NC; and many extended family members who will forever remember her love for others. 

A private family service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Jefferson, NC. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Howell Hill Cemetery, or to a charity of your choice.
