Frank D. Joyce, 91, of Tobaccoville, NC passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, and walked through the gates of Heaven. Born July 31, 1934, he lived a full and faithful life devoted to his family, his work, and his Savior. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank Delano “Frankie” Joyce, Jr.; his parents, William Ausbon and Maxie Lee Lynch Joyce; four brothers, Tommy Joyce, Junior Joyce (Cora Lee), Aubrey Joyce, and Jack Joyce (Dorothy Sue); three sisters, Ruby Joyce (Jack), Iona Cook Mitchell (Carlyle and Doc), and Nancy Belle Smith (Ray); and his sister-in-law, Ruby Joyce (Swanson’s wife). Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Doris Stewart Joyce—the love of his life, and he was hers; his daughters, Karen Joyce Phelps (Mike) and Robyn Joyce Shore (Randy); six cherished grandchildren; two precious great-grandchildren, with one expected next month; his brother, Swanson Joyce of Pinnacle; his sisters-in-law, Doris Hall Joyce (Aubrey’s wife) and Betty Joyce (Tommy’s wife); and many nieces and nephews who were very special to him. Frank was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was deeply treasured by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. No matter how he was feeling, he always greeted us with a warm smile and a joyful heart, constantly pouring out love to those around him. His deep love for his church and his unwavering faith were the foundation of his life and the legacy he leaves behind. In 1959, Frank founded Joyce Construction Company, where he built many custom homes throughout Winston-Salem and the surrounding areas. While he was known for his craftsmanship, his greatest legacy was the lives he touched. Frank never missed an opportunity to share his faith and encourage others, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of his Savior. We are certain he was welcomed with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” He will be deeply missed, and the place he held in our hearts and in our lives can never be filled. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, c/o Sharon Scott, 1433 Alco Road, East Bend, NC 27018.
