Frank LeRoy Vestal died on Monday at the age of 73, following an extended illness. His life-long passions included watching his children grow up; traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach; dancing; playing bridge and other card games; tennis; animals; and classic movies. He was born in Winston-Salem to the late Mary Francis Fisher Tedder and Earl Wishon Vestal, and is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bessie Dawkins Vestal, his daughter, Karen Vestal Hays and her husband Mike, and his son, Stephen Bryan Vestal. His extended family includes his mother-in-law, Wanda Vestal, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, siblings, and in-laws from the Vestal, Dawkins, and Fisher families. Frank is a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and Wake Forest University. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany from 1960 to 1963. Before he retired from the U.S. Postal Service, he worked at Western Electric and McLean Trucking. His family welcomes friends to celebrate his life starting at 5:00pm on Thursday, January 16, at their house. He will be put to rest on a family plot in Rockingham, NC.
