Fred Ellis Hauser

Mr. Fred Ellis Hauser, 96, passed away on November 13, 2025. Mr. Hauser was born on March 18, 1929, in Forsyth County to John Ellis and Frances Hendrix Hauser. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he had been active for 63 years, serving as Sunday School superintendent, elder, choir member, and, in recent years, treasurer.

Fred worked for McLean Trucking Co. for 32 years in data processing and later retired from Wachovia Bank after eight years. He participated in Senior Games for more than 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

Fred met his wife, Lela, at Appalachian State University, and they were married for 72 years. He is survived by two sons, Dr. Alan Kent Hauser (Jina Cho) of Newport Beach, CA, and Dr. Brad Eric Hauser of Ahoskie, NC; grandson, Colby Hauser of Raleigh, NC; and step-grandson, Seewoo Song of Nashville, TN.

Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sisters Madeline Long, Kate Keiger, Evelyn Phillips, Anna Keiger, Betty Speas, and Jean Hauser Cooke, and by his brother, Clyde Hauser. One sibling survives: J. E. Hauser. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Kevin Conley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery, 8710 Meadowbrook Drive, Tobaccoville, NC 27050. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Beverly Kallam, 221 Glen Avenue, King, NC 27021.
