Fred Lee McHan

Mr. Fred Lee McHan, 89, of Advance, NC, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025. He was born January 5, 1936 in Bryson City, NC, to Emlis McHan and Emily Davis McHan. Mr. McHan was a veteran who served in the Army National Guard and retired from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture as a Seed Specialist. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Moravian Church where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. He was a member of the Smith Grove Ruritan Club and loved sports such as golf, tennis and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening and was a talented musician and artist. Mr. McHan was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Don, Beauford and George McHan. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Nancy Trivitte McHan; two daughters, Christa Miller (Scott) and Michelle Moore (Michael); four grandchildren, Ben Miller, Madi Miller, Kayla Moore and Colby Moore; one brother, Eugene McHan (Margaret); one brother-in-law, Harold Trivitte, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Macedonia Moravian Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Moravian Church or to Trellis Supportive Care. Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel is assisting the McHan family.
