Frederick “Fred” Franklin Mann, Jr., 64, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Hospice Care of Yadkin. Fred was born on October 20, 1954 in West Virginia to Frederick F. Mann, Sr. and Carrie Eileen Smith Mann. He graduated from Shady Spring High School in West Virginia. Fred went on to proudly serve as a detention officer with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department in Winston-Salem, NC. Fred had a lifelong love and passion for horses and was eager to pass on his knowledge to anyone who was willing to learn. In his younger years, he ran Sundown Stables in West Virginia. Most of all, Fred loved his family, his children and especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Roger Mann; and sister, Elizabeth Richmond. Surviving family includes his wife of 25 years, Beth Miller Mann; three children, Kaitlin Mann, Freddie Mann (Christina) and Hannah Beck; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Ellison. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Pastor Ronnie Comer officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Carolina Youth Rodeo Association: PO Box 23, Harmony, NC 28634.
