Fredrick Carroll Rose

Mr. Fredrick ""Freddie"" Carroll Rose, 86, passed away at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on July 16, 2015. He was born on April 5, 1929 to Claude A. Rose and Nell Cox Rose in Bristol, VA. He was a graduate of Reynolds High School and attended N.C. State University. Mr. Rose was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. He worked in engineering at Western Electric / AT&T, retiring with 33 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a genius who could fix anything. He built everything from pinewood derby cars to his own family home. Electronics, woodworking and cars were among his many areas of expertise. He enjoyed playing cards with friends every Thursday night for 50 years. Mr. Rose will be remembered as a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Louel Heggie Rose; children, Annette Rose Hester (Ray), and Michael Rose (Susie); 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth ""Beth"" Hester Massie (Charlie), Donald Hester (Carla), Jeff Hester, Eric Rose, Ian Rose, and Kyle Rose; as well as 9 great grandchildren, Chase, Chris and Tina Massie; Lorelai, Jordan, Erika, Tiffany, and Brantley Hester; and Forrest Ryan Rose. A funeral service will be held at Ardmore Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 with Rev. Ty Talton officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103; Kate B.
