Gail Marie Heeringa

Mrs. Gail Marie Heeringa, 61, of Lewisville, NC died peacefully Sunday, February 16, 2014, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born July 30, 1952 in Rochester, PA to the late James and Helen Markham. Mrs. Heeringa served over thirty years in nursing with many of those years as a flight nurse. She helped many people and saved many lives during her career. She loved gardening, hostessing, and travel. Some of her favorite places were Paris, American Samoa and Amsterdam. She was an amazing mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her husband, Kraig D. Heeringa, of the home; two daughters, Gwen Brewer and husband Doug of Lewisville, and Laurie Newcomb of Winston-Salem; a step-daughter, Karen Wicks and husband Ryan of Texas; six grandchildren, Nathan and Abbey Brewer of Lewisville, Greyson and Aidan Newcomb of Winston-Salem, and Liam and Zoe Wicks of Texas; four brothers, Peter Markham, Bill Markham (Melissa), John Markham (Jane), and Steve Markham (Karen); a step-sister, Mary Reed; and two nephews, Jack and Sean Markham.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
