Gary Lee Loeser

Gary Lee Loeser, 85, of Advance, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Kate. B. Reynolds Hospice Home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in Marshall County, Illinois, on August 7, 1940, to the late Jacob Earnest Loser and Anna Elizabeth vest Loser. It is evident throughout his life that Gary was raised in a loving, honorable, and close-knit family, reflected in the way he loved his own family, friends, and, most importantly, his country.

At the age of 18, Gary made the notable decision to join the United States Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. Northampton (CLC1) as a Naval Medic from July 1958 until August 1961. A proud veteran, Gary, regularly shared moments of his time in the Navy with anyone who asked, always emphasizing the tremendous honor it was to serve his nation. Following his military service, Gary enjoyed a successful career as a Corporate and Government Affairs Specialist for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, where he worked until his retirement.

Gary was a man of strong and steadfast faith. As a devoted member of the Episocal Church, he lived a life guided by faith through every joy and challenge he encountered. He demonstrated his beliefs not only through prayer, but through his kindness, generosity, unwavering love for others, and remarkable strength through his battle with Parkinson’s disease. His trust in God provided him with comfort, purpose, and peace, allowing him to remain calm and accepting of God’s plan for his life. His faith will continue to inspire his family and all who knew him. One of the greatest lessons he leaves behind is to never take off your cross, so you always have your key to heaven.

Above all else, Gary cherished his beloved family. He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beautiful wife, Audrey. Their marriage was a testament to devotion, partnership, and unconditional love. Together, they built a home filled with faith, laughter, and love– a home in which Gary took immense pride. He spoke of Audrey with admiration and gratitude, and their relationship served as an example of a loving and enduring marriage. His love for his wife was evident in countless ways and remained one of the defining blessings and greatest accomplishments of his life.

Gary was well known for his dedication, hard work, integrity, and devotion to the people and pursuits he loved. He enjoyed spending time with local friends and business associates on the golf course. Yet, nothing brought him greater joy than celebrating the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was often the first to share their successes with anyone who would listen, speaking of them with immense pride and admiration. A devoted father and grandfather, Gary cherished every moment spent with his family. Whether he was sharing words of wisdom, celebrating life’s milestones, or making memories over late-night ice cream, those moments brought him his greatest happiness.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Audrey Lucille Moore Loeser; his daughters, Hillary Klein and Jessica Heinzer (Brent); his brother, Monte Loser (Carol), his five grandchildren, Alexandria Mullen (Brett), Jarrett Klein, Hannah Heinzer, Greyson Heinzer, and Audrey Heinzer; and his two great grandchildren, Jade Mullen and Finn Mullen.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery.
