Gary Dale Pegg

Gary Dale Pegg, “the Pro”, December 2, 1953 – May 29, 2024. Gary passed peacefully at home on May 29, 2024, and made one final walk through the pearly gates. Gary was born to Bill and Patsy Beeson Pegg on December 2, 1953. Gary is survived by his fiancée, Gloria Brewer Besst of home, a son Travis Pegg of Kernersville, his parents, Bill and Patsy Beeson Pegg of Kernersville, a sister Lisa Pegg Brown, husband Boomer of Raleigh, NC, a brother, Steve Pegg, wife Sherri of Kernersville. Stepchildren Christopher Quick of Kernersville, Betty Walker of Walkertown, granddaughters, Hannah Sell, Natalie Quick, Nieces’ Savannah, Jordan, and Taylor. Gary was a life-long resident of Kernersville and graduated from East Forsyth High School where he excelled in sports. Basketball and football being his favorites. Known for winning the punt, pass, and kick at East Forsyth High School. He was a painter by trade, a musician, a golfer, and a gambler by choice and love. He loved bringing musicians, singers, and listeners together for jam sessions with “Picking with the Pro and Friends”. He was a mentor to many and a friend to all. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Haworth Miller, Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Robert “Boomer” Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care at 1101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. William Ward, Dr. Timothy Collins, and Carmen Mayo for all their care and compassion during Gary’s cancer journey.
