Gary Spring

KERNERSVILLE – Gary Michael Spring, 71, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2019 after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. He was born on October 5, 1947 in New York to the late Morris and Goldie Berenbaum Spring. Gary traveled the world as a young man, met his wife in Alaska, and together they started a family in Kernersville. His family was the most important thing to him. He loved reading and learning a little bit about everything. He was often described as a walking encyclopedia. Gary loved the simple things - like beach life at Oak Island. His life was made fuller by many friends and he will be missed by all who knew him. As a friend stated, “Gary was one of the greatest students of this life.” Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Debbie Terrell Spring, two daughters, Kaitlin and Hannah Spring; a sister, Gail Flashner (Barry); a sister-in-law, Sherry Evans (Larry); nieces, Jessica and Ari; nephews, Jason and Nicholas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Kernersville Moravian Church with Rev. Russ Post-May and Rev. Brad Bennett officiating. Memorials may be made to “City With Dwellings” c/o Board of Cooperative Ministries, 500 South Church St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center to Support Head and Neck Cancer, UNC Medicine Development (payable to UNC Lineberger) Attn: UNC Lineberger, PO Box 1050, Chapel Hill, NC  27514.
