Gary Taylor

Mr. Gary Thomas Taylor, 75, of Winston-Salem, entered the Kingdom of Heaven in the late afternoon of Sunday, October 7, 2018.  Gary was born in Forsyth County on November 26, 1942, to the late Otho Thomas Taylor, Jr. and Theda Reavis Taylor.  He graduated from Gray High School in 1961 and served in the United States Army National Guard.  Gary retired from Westinghouse where he worked in numerous capacities.  He was a member of Robinhood Road Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and much more.  In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Thomas Taylor and one brother, Brian Lamar Taylor.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet Groce Taylor; one daughter, Kathy Lynn Taylor; two grandchildren, April Lynn Taylor and Cpl. Brandon Thomas Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Makenzie Camp, Landon Swaim, and Addisson Taylor; two sisters, Janice Taylor and Glenda Ford (Mickey); one brother, Michael Stephen Taylor; one aunt, Thelma Reavis; brother-in-law, Harvey Groce (Sandra); and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services for Gary will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. John E. Hackworth, Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gary to Robinhood Road Baptist Church, 5422 Robinhood Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
