Gene Gaither Carter

Gene Carter, 89, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on May 4, 2024. Gene led a stellar career at the Winston-Salem Journal as Operations Director and retired in 1996. He led an amazing, long life as a loving husband, father, and friend. His many accomplishments include being a sergeant in the military, a graduate of Guilford College at age 47, a philanthropist for many causes, and a faithful, longtime member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church of Lewisville, NC. The light that he brought to the people who knew and loved him will be greatly missed. We know he is at peace, home with God and his loved ones who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Randall Keith Carter and Michael Gene Carter. 
The service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 8 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church, 5041 Styers Ferry Road, Lewisville, NC. In lieu of flowers, Gene’s wish is for donations to be made to Harmony Grove United Methodist Church: https://harmonygrove-umc.org/
