George Graham East

Belews Creek - Mr. George Graham East, 91, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Durham. He was born September 19, 1921 to the late James and Sally Norman East. Mr. East retired from Bassick-Sack in Winston Salem. George was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, and a member of the Robert West Sunday School Class. He was a Lifetime Farmer. He was an Army Veteran who served during WWII, and received the Purple Heart, for combat at Monchow. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy S. East; three brothers, Royce, Joel and Franklin East; and one sister, Stella Mounce. Surviving are his two daughters, Sylvia E. Bailey (Robert), and Carol E. Barringer (Dwight) all of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Amy Beinke (Jeffery) of Kernersville, Tyler Barringer of Chapel Hill, and Brigitte Barringer of Kernersville; two great- grandchildren, Kyle and Hannah Beinke of Kernersville; a sister, Joanne Williard (John) of Oak Ridge; a sister-in-law, Marlene East; brother-in-law, Reuben Mounce; and many special nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church by Pastor Dan Lyons. Family will receive friends in the Family Life Center immediately following the service. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Monday, May 20, 2013 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
